Vaginal douche:it could promote ovarian cancer

When it comes to intimate hygiene, not all gestures are good to do. Thus, douching, a gesture which consists of washing the inside of the vagina (for example using a pear), would be particularly inadvisable, because it weakens the vaginal flora, whose role is… to clean the vagina . By unbalancing the intimate pH, it would thus sensitize the vagina, in particular increasing the risk of mycosis. But that's not all:a study published in the American journal Epidemiology points out the dangers of douching in the development of ovarian cancer.

A habit to banish

To arrive at these conclusions, the researchers followed more than 50,000 American and Puerto Rican women for six years and examined their intimate toilet habits. At the end of the survey, 154 women had developed ovarian cancer. Scientists have noticed that women who are used to douching were twice as affected by this pathology as others, without however establishing a clear causal link. They also underlined the negative impact of often irritating toiletries (talc, intimate deodorant, stripping products, etc.), which could also cause irritation favoring the development of ovarian cancer. Douching, it should be remembered, is absolutely not mandatory insofar as the flora ensures the cleanliness of the vagina. This practice would therefore present risks… for nothing! If you are addicted to cleanliness, you can however wash the outer part of the vagina, provided you opt for a product with a neutral pH (preferably organic or with very few chemical components) and without using a washing glove. toilet or shower flower (which can be breeding grounds for bacteria). Good luck!
