Playing Pokemon Go does not help move more

The favorite excuse for Pokemon Go players to justify their addiction to the application? Hunting Roucool, Squirtle and other Bulbizarre makes them do more sport. Well according to the medical journal The British Medical Journal (BMJ), not so much after all. If the first days, users are indeed more active than normal, the effects fade quickly. From the second week, the positive impact on physical activity decreases until it disappears completely after six weeks of use.

A motivation that does not last long

To determine if the Pokemon Go application had real beneficial effects on physical activity, American researchers interviewed 1,182 users aged 18 to 35. Results ? A slight increase in physical activity was indeed observed in the first days, but the enthusiasm and motivation of the beginnings did not last long. During the first week of play, participants walk an average of 11 extra minutes per day. The number of steps taken begins to decrease from the second week, to disappear completely by the sixth week.
