Train your flexibility

Would you like to be more flexible? Agility can be trained, up to a certain limit. Get the best out of yourself with these tips.

How flexible you can become also has to do with your muscles and the position of your joints. Below are some tips to train your flexibility.

– Do not start stretching until your muscles have warmed up properly. This will prevent injuries.
– Stretch until you feel a slight tension in the muscles and then hold your position for 8 to 16 seconds.
– Running builds strength in your muscles. Stretch your leg muscles after running.
– Use your breath while stretching. Exhale deeply as you advance into your stretch. Don't hold your breath, you lock your body as it were.
– Do not bounce up and down while stretching.
– Carry out the movements slowly.
– Relax during the stretching. Let gravity do its work.
– Don't do heavy stretches. You run the risk of injuring yourself. It's better to do a light stretch several times.
– Do a cooldown after stretching.
– No idea what you're getting into or doing? Then ask for help at a gym or sports class. Pilates and yoga, for example, are suitable sports to train your flexibility.
