The rules of a good dinner:the beggar's supper

Light dinner to sleep well

In the evening, we often tend to let go:restaurants with friends, dinner with family or meal tray in front of the TV alone. Yet it is the lightest meal of the day that we should eat:a heavy stomach affects the quality of our sleep. Ideally, you should wait between 60 and 90 minutes after dinner before going to bed. Thus, digestion will have already started and will be easier. It is not for nothing that the English and the Americans dine around 5 or 6 p.m. In general, you should avoid eating meat in the evening, because it takes a long time to digest. Eating a light dinner is all the more important for people watching their weight:we expend much less energy while we sleep. And of course, you have to forget the exciting drinks such as tea, coffee or alcohol.

What to have for dinner?

The saying goes that we eat like a pauper at night. However, we must not forget that our body continues to consume calories, and therefore energy, during our sleep. The idea is to consume light foods and in small quantities. We prefer foods that are neither too rich nor too fatty:

– vegetables:low in calories and nutritious, they will allow you to fall asleep with a light stomach. In soup or au gratin, they adapt to all recipes and all seasons;

– a little starchy food such as pasta, rice or couscous. Although some specialists assure that it is better to avoid consuming it in the evening;

– fish:ideal for dinner, it is rich in proteins, minerals and trace elements while being low in calories;

– a calming drink such as chamomile, linden or verbena herbal tea that helps you fall asleep quickly.

All that remains is to count the sheep!
