Not eating in the morning would waste 2 hours of learning

The Australian association "Foodbank" launched a survey in March and May on the diet of young people in primary and secondary school. For this, 530 teachers were questioned and the majority made the same observation. 67% of respondents say they see children arriving every morning without having eaten anything.

The teachers are unanimous:not eating in the morning would be very bad for the students. 73% of them would be less attentive and 66% in a state of lethargy. For 82% of respondents, the consequences on student work are direct.

Therefore, all effects combined, a child who did not eat in the morning would lose two hours a day of learning time. From this observation, the association has calculated that a child, over a school year, would miss nearly 14 weeks of learning!

The members of the "Foodbank" association also quickly noticed that inside establishments offering breakfasts to their students, the impact on concentration is notable.

Skipping breakfast is just an Australian habit. In France too, the new generation eats less in the morning. The CREDOC (Research Center for the Study and Observation of Living Conditions) published in 2014 a survey entitled "food behavior and consumption in France" which highlighted our dietary changes. Thus, 10 years ago, 11% were already avoiding the morning meal compared to 29% in 2013.
