Family planning launches an application to remember your pill

In order to simplify taking the pill on a daily basis, family planning had the idea of launching a mobile application so that you never forget to take your contraceptive. Thus, the "Pill'Oops" app allows you to program your daily reminder at the time of the supposed intake of the tablet, to have a follow-up of your cycle, to find out about the prescribed pill and even to find advice in case of forgetfulness. This process, especially intended for young women who are not yet accustomed to contraceptives, was tested beforehand by a departmental branch of family planning in Rennes before being made available at the national level in June 2017. Completely free, the "Pill'Oops" application is available on all official download sites.

Helping young women get into the habit

"The objective is to strengthen the autonomy of women in their sexuality and their sexual health, and to simplify this daily gesture carried out by thousands of women", explained to AFP one of the two presidents of the movement, Veronique Sehier. According to her, “an oversight can happen to anyone” and “the consequence can be pregnancy”. According to INED, in France in 2013, 41% of French women aged 15 to 49 used the pill every day. It is the most widely used method of contraception. To help younger women get used to taking it every day, this app provides constant tracking and automatic reminders. So, if you too happen to be head in the air, you know what you have to do...
