Health:why you should not wear flip flops non-stop in summer

We don't know for you, but for us, who says beach, says flip flops. They are the easiest shoes to put on and the feeling of being almost barefoot is very pleasant. But beware, it seems that flip flops are ultimately not terrible for our feet and our health. In any case, this is the message that an English podiatrist, Dr. Christina Long, wants to convey, interviewed by the Daily Mail. She explains that flip flops would cause us to change the way we walk, which results in lower back pain and problems with the Achilles heel and shins, and can lead to plantar fasciitis (an inflammation of the of the tendon of the arch of the foot), pain in the toes and stress fractures. Not to mention the risk of falling when you're in flip flops... Not so happy!

The flip flops problem? They offer no support to the feet and you have to hold on to them so as not to lose them. The podiatrist points out that wearing flip flops is better than going barefoot, at least for the bottom of the foot, but that's the only advantage. Rest assured, however:wearing flip flops from time to time, for example when you're at the beach, by the pool or when you go shopping in the summer, it's ok. But only wear that for 2 months, no. There is a risk of multiplying small injuries that would not have time to heal and therefore causing more serious ones in the long term. The best thing is to alternate with “normal” shoes as soon as you can, which support the foot and hold it. Flip flops should not be worn when driving (safety issue), running, hiking (or just walking for a long time) or playing sports. And when we buy flip flops, we opt for quality, which we choose if possible a little larger than our foot.

Well, well that gives us a good excuse to buy little sandals, right?!
