Cherry juice, a natural remedy for better sleep

Constantly tossing and turning, eyes wide open in bed, this is the endless merry-go-round that has become a daily occurrence for many people subject to stress and anxiety. Fortunately, there are natural methods that allow us to relax and improve the quality of our sleep, such as essential oils, meditation, reading and even…cherry juice! Researchers at the University of Louisiana have shown that a glass of sour juice morning and evening would improve the quality and duration of our sleep, not bad, right?

Cherries against insomnia

In addition to being excellent for breakfast, the juice of Montmorency sour cherries (the variety tested by the researchers) would allow you to gain up to 84 minutes of additional sleep per night (i.e. almost 1h30)! In the study published in the American Journal of Therapeutics , scientists explain that certain varieties of these small (but nevertheless delicious) red fruits would be a natural source of melatonin, which is the sleep hormone. Their red pigment would also help to increase the availability of tryptophan, an essential amino acid, initiator of serotonin (which regulates mood, emotionality and sleep). We get it, so it's no coincidence that cherries turn out to be a good asset against insomnia... we're going to try it!
