Being hungrier at the end of the day is normal!

Whether you're trying to lose weight or just watch what you eat, there's something we've all seen:it's the night when it's hardest to be careful. An American study, conducted on overweight people and whose results were published in the International Journal of Obesity , looked at the question of the link between hunger and the hours of the day, taking into account the stress factor. The goal:to determine if there are times when you are hungrier than others. Verdict? It's the evening that it's the hardest to resist!

A variable level of hormones

The participants were subjected to two tests. For the first, they had to fast for 8 hours before taking in 608 calories in liquid form, either at 9 a.m. or 4 p.m. They then underwent a blood test to measure their stress level and that of their hunger hormones (ghrelin, that of hunger, and leptin, that of satiety). Following this, a large buffet was offered to them. The conclusion is simple:at the end of the day, the level of ghrelin increases while that of leptin decreases. So, we have the slab! And it's even more obvious if you're stressed. Finally, people with eating disorders who tend to eat compulsively are more sensitive to changes in hunger hormones. According to the researchers, knowing this could make it possible to consider another approach to obesity, in particular by modifying the time of meals (by eating earlier) or by giving greater importance to stress management.
