Product recalls:60 million consumers warn about sesame, toys and other everyday products

Every year it is the same observation:hundreds of everyday consumer products are recalled. In 2019, the specialized site Oulah! identified more than 1000 defective items. And for good reason, all of them present risks to health, personal safety or the environment. All it takes is a manufacturing defect, contaminated component, or part failure for the consequences to be serious. All areas are concerned, ready-to-wear, toys, hygiene and maintenance products as well as food. Luckily, the magazine 60 million consumers regularly list the products to avoid .

60 Million Consumers Lists New Product Recalls

2021 is starting well, many references have been labeled as a reminder in view of their dangers about health. Among them are sesame products . For several months now, hummus, breadsticks, cookies and other references have been withdrawn because they contain contaminated sesame by ethylene oxide . For the European Commission this represents a "serious risk to human health". Food is therefore affected, but it is not the only sector:toys and leisure equipment are also. Indeed, a few days ago the consumer association pointed to a swing for children and some scooters of different brands. These would present a risk of falling and breaking. Finally, hygiene products are no exception, an organic shower gel for children and an antibacterial cleanser for the hands are strongly discouraged.
