Beginner on the treadmill

Before you step on the treadmill for the first time, read these tips.

Not everyone likes to run on the treadmill. Yet it also has advantages:you can do it in all weather conditions and your running surface is even, so that you put less strain on your muscles and bones. Keep the following things in mind:

Warm up
Just like with any other sport, you also start on the treadmill with a warm-up. So don't set it to full speed right away. The very first time you step on the treadmill, give yourself time to get used to it and walk a bit first.

Watch your posture
While walking on the treadmill, do not lean forward too much, keep your shoulders relaxed and stand up straight.

Create some distraction
Listen music, watch TV, think about your source of inspiration. To get the best out of yourself, distraction can work perfectly. Read more about distraction while running>> http://www.sante.nl/sport/hoe-hou-je-het-hardlopen-van-een-lange-560-vol.php

Do an interval workout
To improve yourself and burn more calories you can add intervals. Walk faster or slower or vary the incline. If necessary, ask the instructor for help in putting together good intervals.

Do a cool down
Don't forget to slowly walk out on the treadmill and stretch for a while afterwards.

Don't forget the etiquette
If you use the treadmill in the gym, don't forget to clean it afterwards.
