1 in 5 children does not exercise enough

Often the parents set a bad example.

Not a good example
40 percent of parents do not see themselves as an athlete or as someone who moves a lot. The kids see it too. 63 percent of the children think that their parents exercise (too) little.

Exercise is expensive
Slightly more than half of the children exercise for at least an hour a day. Many of these children are not involved in any sport. According to the parents, this is because sport is too expensive (28 percent), the child likes other activities more (33 percent) or that the child does not want to exercise more often (27 percent).

Striking
Of the children who are not members of a sports club, 34 percent say they want to be. For girls, that percentage is even 42 percent.

Try sports for free Admittedly, some sports are expensive, but exercise doesn't have to be expensive. Sunday 9 November there will be a free sports event for children in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Where you can watch various sports demonstrations and of course you can also exercise yourself. For more information, visit www.anderespelen.nl.
