Tip from Marianne Timmer:Discipline

Santé is a co-subsponsor of Team Continu:the skating team led by Marianne Timmer. Today Marianne Timmer is talking about discipline in sports.

Marianne: 'Having discipline in sport means that you give everything for the sport. If you choose to reach the top, you have to see the consequences. But even if you don't want to reach the top, but do recreational sports, you will have to have discipline. A boy in his twenties who does bodybuilding won't be partying late into the night with his friends every weekend and will have to make sure that he eats enough healthy food according to his needs. He will moderate in fatty snacks and have to keep up with his agenda in order to properly coordinate training and work and/or study. If he can do that and is willing to do it, you can say he is disciplined. When the will to succeed is high, it is easier to give up other fun things, regardless of the goal:to reach the top or get a fit and sporty body. Motivation is an important factor for having discipline.'
