Do you want to walk more? That's how you start (again)

Walking gained popularity during the first lockdown and now with the second lockdown there is renewed attention for this form of movement. Here are some tips if you want to start (again).

Walking lunch (15-30 minutes per day)

Would you like to walk more, but your day is so full of online meetings that you really don't know where to find the time? Start small, says psychologist and nature coach Judith Timp. “Start, for example, with a walk during your lunch break. Watch and feel what it does to you, how you sit behind your desk for the rest of the afternoon. Do you notice a difference? Then make it a habit to go for a walk several times a week, or daily during lunch.” Maybe there are neighbors who work from home who want to join 1.5 meters away?

Leave the bike at home (30-60 minutes per day)

“Another good starting point is to cover a short distance that you would normally cycle on foot,” says Timp. “Do you normally cycle to the bakery? Then go walk now. If you do this more often, you will notice the effect. If you already walk regularly, think about how you walk. Try to be aware of your surroundings, to reflect on what you see and experience.”
