Exercise more at the office, that's how you do it!

Can you go to the office during those days? Then you probably spend most of it sitting. Sitting on your desk chair for 8 hours is not really good for your health, even if you exercise regularly…

If you really want to live a healthy life, you also have to move as much in the office. Fortunately, there are many ways to do this, even at your desk! We have five tips with which you can move more while working.

Work standing or even moving

In the past, everyone sat in front of a computer during a working day. However, that is no longer always the case these days. For example, sit-stand desks are increasingly seen in modern offices, which also applies to even treadmill and bicycle desks. However, you should not constantly stand or move during your work tasks. This costs a lot of energy, no less than 20 percent more than working while sitting. This will make you lean more often, which is of course not good for your posture. It is therefore recommended to alternate standing or moving work with seated work.

Take the stairs, not the elevator

Climbing stairs is of course very healthy. If you have to go up a few floors, your heart rate will go up, this is even the case with a top athlete. In addition, you use more muscles when climbing stairs than during normal walks. So it's a good workout that you can easily do in most offices. It is therefore wise to make it a habit to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Do you have to walk up many floors to get to your workplace? Then use a mix of the stairs and the elevator.

Use a sitting ball instead of an office chair

In addition, you can also move in a different way in the office, which is even possible behind your own desk. In fact, you can do this while sitting. You have to use a sitting ball for this, so not a normal office chair. Such a large ball encourages you to sit up straight, which is good for your posture. By doing this, you also tighten the muscles in your back as well as your legs and buttocks. You probably won't be able to keep this up all day, so start with 15 minutes a day.

Walk &talk

Another way to get more exercise in the office is to make it a habit to walk away from your desk when you answer the phone. By doing this you not only move more, you immediately disturb your colleagues less. You can also choose to hold meetings in a standing manner. This provides more energy, while the meeting will probably end faster. In addition, it is possible to take a walk with a colleague if you have something to discuss. This is of course less suitable for large groups.
