How to help baby regulate his sleep?

Help your baby fall asleep alone

From the first weeks, it is important that your baby learns to fall asleep on his own. You can of course give him a little cuddle at bedtime, but do not wait until he is sound asleep to leave his room. Also, don't get into the habit of breast-feeding or bottle-feeding him to fall asleep, as this habit will be very hard to break. Does your baby cry at night? Don't rush to his room right away to comfort him. Wait a few minutes before going to see him. Then, little by little, wait a little longer. This will help your baby learn to fall back to sleep on their own in the middle of the night:this is important for the quality of their sleep, and that of yours.

To promote baby's sleep, priority to relaxation

In the evening, it is important that your baby is relaxed before going to bed. There are different techniques to help him calm down quietly:you can give him a bath, give him a massage... The little bedtime ritual is also important:you can read him a story, sing him a nursery rhyme... The most important is that your baby finds his bearings, be reassured. So he knows it's time to go to bed.

Create an environment conducive to baby's sleep

To sleep well, your baby must be comfortably installed. It should neither be too cold nor too hot. Check the temperature of his room:it should ideally be 19 or 20°C. Close its shutters and curtains, so that it is well in the dark, at least at night. To help him tell the difference between day and night, you can leave the shutters open at nap time and close them at night. Thus, your baby will gradually be able to tell the difference and learn more quickly to sleep through the night.
