Plantar reflexology:some relaxation gestures to do at home

The basics

Plantar reflexology is an ancestral practice. Derived from Chinese medicine, it brings well-being and soothing. Helping to fight against stress, anxiety and insomnia, it is also effective against physical ailments. Backache, poor blood circulation, complicated digestion…, the feet are the mirror of our body. Divided into reflex zones, the arch of the foot corresponds to the different parts of the body. Massage relieves pain and relieves tension. In addition to the pleasure of relaxation, this practice rebalances the body. The gestures are precise, and the thumb puts pressure on well-identified points. The two feet are not identical. Each has its own nerve endings and different reflex zones.

Relaxation exercise #1

For this first plantar reflexology exercise, choose a quiet place. Relax, and find the right position:cross your legs to put your left foot on the right thigh. Start by gently massaging the soles of your feet with your thumb. Press down lightly, then release, letting your fingers glide. Make circular movements under the arch of the foot, and stretch until you reach the beginning of your toes. To continue the relaxation, you can massage your ankle then the heel. Gesture up and down with your thumb. The toes are also linked to parts of the body, especially the head. Massage all the fingers by making small pressures. It is important not to hurt yourself by applying too much pressure. Do one foot at a time. This exercise can be repeated as many times as you wish!

Relaxation exercise n°2

For total relaxation, you can start by bathing your feet. Put a few drops of lavender essential oil for maximum serenity and coarse salt. You can also apply a few drops of argan or avocado vegetable oil to moisturize by massaging. To combat stress, place your right foot on your left thigh. Then, with your hand, curl your toes towards the arch of your foot. With the other hand, perform a massage with your thumb:start from the outer part to stretch to the inner part. Then, do the same with the left foot. For those who feel very stressed and tense, you can also invest in a wooden massager. The benefits of self-massage are numerous! Regularly massaging yourself can reduce the little sores of everyday life. For more in-depth work, contact a reflexologist, and do a few supervised foot reflexology sessions. You will see your tensions disappear little by little!
