Working at home, exercising at home:this is how you do it

Working from home 100%? That is not possible. Sports at home? Really nothing for me. Maybe you called this too. Until a virus changed everything. The world is upside down. Digitization has accelerated. Working from home does not appear to be a problem. And exercising at home turns out to be a perfect solution. For many. Not for everyone yet. While exercise is so important, especially when you work at home. How do you integrate sports at home into your home work routine?

The importance of working from home and exercising

Working from home may make you move a lot less. In addition, the pantry is a few meters away from you. The consequence? We burn less and eat more. The result? More kilos, a lower fitness level and therefore lower productivity and reduced health and resistance. Exactly what you DO NOT want in these times. So get moving and:

  1. Get fit
  2. Increase your productivity and creativity
  3. Become more alert
  4. Get more energy
  5. Feel more confident
  6. Increase the chance to resist temptation

Schedule it

To make working from home a success, good planning is important. It is no different with exercising at home. Make a weekly schedule for your work and use your sports moments as a regular appointment. Which is therefore just as important as any other appointment. Are you canceling this appointment with yourself? Then there is a good chance that you will have to adjust your weekly planning due to reduced creativity and productivity. This (half) hour of investment will ultimately save you time.

Consider what you are going to do in advance

Okay, your plan is done. At 11 o'clock your sports moment is in the agenda. You just haven't figured out what you're going to do yet. If you still have to do that at 11 o'clock, you will quickly lose your sense and motivation. And in the end you do nothing. So when making your planning, think about what you are going to do and what you need to do it. Have it ready in the evening or in the morning. Do you want to walk? Think about where you are going to walk. Do you want to do some exercises yourself? Write down this exercise routine. Do you want to do an online home workout? Select your workout in advance. Are weights needed? Have these ready.

Put on your sports outfit

Do you sometimes sit behind your laptop in your house pants? With your slippers on? Since nobody sees you when you work from home, it doesn't really matter what you wear. So put on that sports outfit in the morning. During the online meetings you put your neat blouse over it. Is it time for your sports moment? Throw off that blouse and start right away. To warm up you can make it your own party by taking off that blouse or top to the song 'You can leave your hat on' by Joe Cocker. That will probably put a smile on your face right away. Just to be sure, check whether you are already logged out of your online meeting;-)

Three tips that will make all the difference to your week, your life and your productivity. So start right away.
